Good food and reasonable price. I like its Dongpo zhouzi so much. Have come here twice for it! Love this place.

I ordered fried rice and it tasted like the rice was kept from the night before. It tasted like reheated friend rice. Very disappointed.

I used to enjoy Gourmet Village, but had the worst Chinese meal I've ever had last Friday. New ownership in recent years? Unappetizing smell when entering, sticky tabletop, when brought to waiters attention - he made a weak effort of cleaning it with a paper napkin. When food arrived, missing and wrong items ---- but the food itself was horrendous. My almond chicken was so overcooked it was stringy, barely could chew. Rating should actually be no stars. Avoid.

Something must have changed recently with Gourmet Village. A few months ago I would order from GV whenever I got a chinese craving. I really only did this because I live very close and it was convenient. It was never because it was delicious, it was very average. However, the past 5 or so times I've ordered from here it has been exceptional. I always love the chicken lo mein as well as the dumplings. Their crab rangoon are the best in town! Maybe they got a new cook, because something has definitely changed - for the better. I now order there not only for convenience but because it's the best chinese food I've had in East Lansing and the pricing is just a bonus!

I don't know what happened to GV. Ten years ago it was excellent. We went back to E. Lansing last weekend and visited this restaurant where we used to like. However, it was a huge disappointment. The smoked duck was very fat; the lean part was overdone. The beef was all fat. GV was part of my memory during my student years and it was my favorite in E.Lansing. They haven't changed the decor ever, and many of the chairs are broken and looked dirty. I will not come back ever again.

What a pleasant surprise! My co-workers and I ordered in from GV for lunch today for the first time and we were all impressed. There wasn't a single bad dish of the bunch! Their sweet and sour chicken was different than the typical version I've tasted in most Chinese restaurants - in a good way. The sauce wasn't overly sweet or thick so it felt more light and not sickening, the fruit was fresh, and it tasted homemade and not "fast" prepared. We also had the orange chicken (savory, awesome non-mushy broccoli), chicken lo mein (average, still good, but generic), and fried rice (I'm personally not a fan of onions and the rice had an abundance of them but the girls seemed to like it). All the dishes were served hot and the prices appear affordable with decent portion sizes. It is extremely rare for me to say I've enjoyed Chinese food in the Lansing area, but today I did and I will eagerly await my next hankering to give them another whirl!

Really friendly wait staff, but they got our order wrong. I'm vegetarian and told them this, but they still put shrimp on one of my dishes and said that would be okay because I could eat around it...no. We ordered a bunch of dishes and the general consensus was that the food was pretty average. Also, for those of you who care, the bathrooms were gross.

If you like deep-fried gristle served with a side of rice, this place is for you.My friend and I ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Mango Chicken, both of which featured uniquely deep-fried parts of chickens I've never encountered on a dinner plate before. The Mango Chicken at first appeared to be coated with a strange sort of breading. Upon further dissection, I found a fatty coating on the chicken that was at least as thick as the meat itself. The Kung Pao Chicken was deep fried to the point of being unrecognizable as chicken, but rather, I suspect, a conglomeration of skin, fat and last (and also least) -- meat. When I asked the waiter if any of their chicken is stir fried -- not deep fried -- he gave me a puzzled look and suggested one dish.A final note, despite my friend and I barely touching our food, the waiter did not offer to rectify the situation, but merely said "sorry" and went on his way.Methinks I won't venture back to try it again.

I've eaten at or taken out from Gourmet Village a few dozen times over the past couple of years, tried 20 or so dishes, and never found something I didn't unreservedly enjoy. The atmosphere of the restaurant is excellent - the furnishings all seem new and tasteful. The best aspect of Gourmet Village, though, is its service. All the waiters and waitresses that have served me have been very nice and accommodating. The prices are reasonable and typical of Chinese restaurants in the area, though not exceptional.?

My search for decent Chinese food in the Lansing area led me to Gourmet Village this evening. I ordered the won ton soup, which was delightful and different in a dark broth (beef and mushroom flavors), and the orange chicken. The presentation was lovely and was quite generous, and the sauce was better than so-so. It could have been decent overall, but the chicken they used was horrid. I'm not particularly a fan of dark meat in dishes like this, which half of it was, but even the white meat was stringy, chewy, and gristley. After trying to pick around the visible gristle a bit, I ended up just eating the rice with the sauce. I'm not a complainer in restaurants, but when the waiter asked how the food was I told him about the terrible chicken. For this, I was given 10% off. My partner in this mission ordered egg drop soup and almond chicken. Both were pretty standard, which is good for this area. I might go back and give some other dishes a whirl, but only once I've tried all ...? More ?
